Dear Friends,
Dear Friends,
We are rapidly approaching the winter solstice, with the shortest number of daylight hours and holiday celebrations. Winter Solstice meaning Sun set still in winter. Many cultures celebrate or celebrated a holiday near the winter solstice; examples of these include Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, and many other festivals of light.
Now is the time to appreciate the great things we have in our lives and to look forward to an exciting, changing and challenging new year. This is a time for abundant expectancy, rather than abundant expectations. Rather than feeling guilty about holiday activities, accept that there are times when maintaining what you have accomplished are an achievement. Life is a balancing act. The more relaxed you are the more powerful you become.

Be good to yourself — Relax and enjoy!!
Thank you for your interest in Footsteps for Health.
I'd enjoy hearing from you!
Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy 2008!

Call To Action! WV 30K Walk / Relay
A special thanks to all the WVR teams who registered for WVR 2008. Unfortunately, we did not meet the 50 team requirement to go ahead with this event. Therefore, we are reinventing the relay and are proud to announce the Willamette Valley 30K Walk n' Relay!
Come walk solo or as a team member for a great day of fun, challenge, camaraderie & safety - all on bike paths of Eugene and Alton Baker Park. Bring your friends, family, & associates and take on the challenge. Mark your calendar for July 19th, 2008.
If you enjoy long distance walking, you can do the 30 km (18.6 miles) as a solo performance. If you prefer the dynamics of team work, you may select team sizes of 2 – 6 members. As with our other events, we will offer divisions which include Walk Our Way and competitive. Competitive divisions are for individual participants & teams -- women’s, men’s and mixed.

by Nancy Clark Confused about what to eat? You are not the only one! Even I get frustrated with the changing landscape. One week medical reporters tout the benefits of taking a vitamin,
and then the next week, they tell us it does no good. One week, the message is don’t eat eggs; another week, eggs are OK. Aarrrgh!

Fitness Tip: Warm Up To Work Out
Suppose you were told that you only had to add an extra five to ten minutes to each of your workouts in order to prevent injury and lessen fatigue. Would you do it? Most people would say yes. Then they might be surprised to learn that they already know about those few minutes called a warm-up. If done correctly, a preexercise warm-up can have a multitude of beneficial effects on a person’s workout and, consequently, their overall health.
